the paint is peeling ,has alligator scales and is very chalky.Idont want to have to scrape this all by hand unless its the only optionWhats the best and fastest way to remove several layers of old peeling paint from my house ?
Use a pressure washer. We had to repaint my mom's house and it was in the same condition as you describe, the pressure washer worked fantastic, much easier than scraping!Whats the best and fastest way to remove several layers of old peeling paint from my house ?
Try a pressure washer that should get it off.
go to sherwin williams, those guys know how to do everything. pressure washing and sanding will most likely me in heavy order, and a good primer and paint will prevent furture problems.
outside pressure washer inside paint thinner but open lots of windows.
Water Blast then scrape what's left
Serouisly? Redo the sheetrock. LOTS better, you can re-mud to get your own texture. If your walls are even, have you considered how you're going to feather it out to make it even again without mudding? If you scrape, you may scrather the wall or have uneven spots.
You could try power washing but you might have some environmental issues.(lead paint) Scraping is probably the best bet.
