most clear coats go over non-shiny base coats and they do not buff to a shine, nor do they offer UV protection and the are not as durable as a clear coat. You could always sand down to the color and apply another clear coat.





If your paint is a metallic and you sand into the color, you will sand down the metal shards, causing variations in the finish. if it's a solid color, make sure not to sand into the primer coat.
