Paint peeling off front wood porch?

I just got done using a power washer to try and peel the paint off the front porch which is wood. Wasn't working so will. The parts that are all ready chipped were coming off but only if i pretty much had the tip on top of the wood. The parts that aren't chipped weren't even thinking about coming coming off. Any help im wanting to repaint if i can get old off.Paint peeling off front wood porch?
just scape as much off as you can than prime and paintPaint peeling off front wood porch?
If you really feel that you need to take off all the paint, then use a chemical stripper. or if there are lots and lots of layers, use a heat gun and scraper. Be careful though about lead paint. Don't breath the fumes if you use heat, and don't breath the dust if you sand. Be sure to vacuum up any chips of paint and dispose of properly too.
Let the porch dry and use a sander on it to smooth out the edges where the paint chipped off. Rinse it off and let it dry completely. Prime and paint.

Use an oil based primer and oil based alkyd porch paint.
