How to paint on acrylic sheets w/o peeling?

Basically I am making an acrylic box that will light up from a light inside. I want to paint the outside of the box with a paint that will not peel or chip away and at the same time have the paint be thin enough to let the box look light it is glowing once the light is turned on inside. I am willing to sand the outside so that the paint holds better as long as you don't think it would make the light look much different.

Is there some kind of spray on sealer I can put on top of the paint to make it more durable? ThanksHow to paint on acrylic sheets w/o peeling?
Acrylic paint needs something to hang onto... so sanding the box (try steel wool) would work. Sanding will also diffuse the light nicely so you won't be able to see an actual light bulb/fixture.

Thin the paint with acrylic medium - not water - to keep it translucent. Use a good non-yellowing varnish afterward to seal the paint, and you should be good to go.How to paint on acrylic sheets w/o peeling?
hehehehehe

i dont know
Plastic model paints they are lacquer based and 'etch' into the plastic. Large range of colours and can be sprayed go talk to the hobby shop guy.
Actually Bull Dog makes a laquer spary for glass that allows you to paint on top of it and it won't chip off even outside. I would use this for the base on top of the clear plastic. While you can sand it, the sanding will not be as translucent and reflect the light through the art work as easily. You can buy this product at Home Depot. Since your paint is going to be thin, I think this will work better. Spray again when finished as a sealer.
