Keeping car paint from peeling?

the paint on my car hood has been peeling for a while. the spot keeps getting bigger (though right now its kinda stopped for a bit). the biggest spot is about half a foot long x a few inches. there are two main spots. is there anything i can spray on or put on it to keep it from peeling further. can you prime the spot and then paint it or what?Keeping car paint from peeling?
To stop the peeling you will have to refinish the hood. Mfg's a few years back had some quality problems with paint suppliers and didn't see the peeling problem until a few years after the cars were in service. Most Mfg's will repair the peeling if your the original owner.

A reputable paint shop can make the proper repairs.

If your good with your hands its possible to do the work yourself. It will take stripping and sanding the old finish down to metal then repriming and applying the correct color. A basecoat of color and a few coats of clear should make your car look good again. Read all the paint directions and follow to the letter--don't mix brands if you do it yourself. the problem isn't the paint, but poor paint preparation. all you can do is sand down the car and prep the body properly for paint, and repaint the car.
Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, Chrysler, all had crappy paint in the 90s.

There is nothing you can do about it short of stripping it ALL off and repainting.
The problem you are having is either poor adhesion caused by poor prep work when the car was painted or UV rays attacking the primer substrate causing the paint to peel. Either way you will end up striping and repainting the hood to repair the problem properly.
well now that it has already started peeling i dont kno how to stop it but my sisters bofriend kept his from starting polishing it every other day with some kind of car polish i dont know what its called but it smells good, he's been doing this since 2000 and his car still looks like new
