Whats the best way to paint a brick wall so it doesnt keep peeling?

when you are done painting your brick , take the paint brush and put a new coat on your car...same difference...painted brick is the pits....Whats the best way to paint a brick wall so it doesnt keep peeling?
Don't use Sandtex , it goes crumbly. Flaking paint is generally caused by people having applied oil-bound paints in the past, Treatment....One coat thinned-out PVA 2 coats Dulux Weathershield, guaranteed minimum 15 years , I know as I have now exceeded 18 years. Don't be tempted to use any old masonery paint, they last about 2 years.Whats the best way to paint a brick wall so it doesnt keep peeling?
Preparation will be the biggest factor. It has to be cleaned really well. Preferably with muriatic acid. If the wall's not too huge (like the side of a building) you could even use a compressor to help remove dust particles from the bricks pours.

BTW, dilute the acid you use and scrub with a push broom then rinse with water.

You should use a primer/sealer coat first and follow up with a good quality paint. Use thin coats and follow the directions for timing between coats to keep the peeling away for many years.
Sandtex is a good paint for this, but you MUST use a stabilizer and not a primer, stabilizers can be purchased in builders merchants or some DIY stores, don't accept any suggestions that 'this will do' if it is not labelled as a stabilizer it will not do.
Use a good brand of masonary paint.
Use masonry paint.
seal the brick first, and use good quality paint, and follow the instruction on the tin
Please do not paint brick, its nasty! and will decrease the value of your property. If you still wish to carry on, ill send my brother round hes top notch
take off all the paint and leave it just plain brick if you don't like that stain it stain doesn't come off and you can get it in all different colors. Good Luck!!
Use a PVA coat first. This seals and adheres. Then paint over it with outdoor paint, a good quality like Sandtex. Its guaranteed for 10-15 years. Use a brick or mediterranean colour so it doesnt show the spats. Happy painting!
walls are not meant to b e painted but if you really have to then paint it with dulux weathersheild ....but you will have to paint it every year .to try and the water out ..at least two coats
first of all remove any loose flaking paint with a scraper and a wire brush for between the bricks.secondly apply a coat of stabilising solution and leave to dry for 8 hours min.thirdly apply a thin coat of masonary paint then after its completely dried apply a thicker second coat. PS depending on weather if its a bit iffy use an oil based masonary paint its rain proof in about half hour.but if its great weather apply a water based masonary paint its easier and less messy.use a long pile roller as it will get beetween the gaps and remember to put down dustsheets.I'm a painter of 15 years......and this weather is killing my outside work.
