Peeling paint in apartment?

We recently moved into a new apartment. The walls were painted before we moved in and now the paint is peeling. Not just in one room but all the walls in the apartment. Is this a health hazard? Also, i'm sure we're not being exposed to lead but is it possible the peeling paint is harming us? ThanksPeeling paint in apartment?
firstly by indicating how old the builing is will give you an idea of wether or not aspestos might have been used, however unless aspestos has been sanded or brocken it does not pose a immediate threat, also water based paints suchas emulsion cause little harm even if peeling, and very unlikely that oil based paint(gloss, egg shell )would have been used i interior walls.though the cause of the paint peeling can be harmful if it is through dampness or rising dampness as it can be harmful to tour cheast and lungs.Peeling paint in apartment?
Is it possible - anything is possible but with today's paints it is not probable that you are under a serious health risk from vapors. Now if you (or a child) is eating the flaking paint that is another story.

It sounds like they used a really poor grade of paint. The walls need to be scrubbed and scraped and then primed and repainted. The primer will seal the walls and help the new paint adhere properly to the surface.

First answer good point about possible moisture problems or high internal humidity problems.

Good Luck getting it done tho.
How old is your building? Is there someone above you?

The paint may be peeling because of damp problems from the apartment above. The paint (which won't contain lead, by the way) won't be as harmful as the potential of mold.

Call your landlord if you are renting!
