Paint is peeling off external brickwork in one area only?

In one section of brickwork (namely two bricks near a window) the weather-shield paint I put on always seems to eventually peel and flake off? Can anyone in the damp proofing trade or builder's, give me an idea of what might be causing this?Paint is peeling off external brickwork in one area only?
Without seeing whats going on all we can do is assume somthing oily or a wax base contaminant has gotten there some how. Scrape back affected area real well and scrub down area with laquer thinner. If i was doing it i would even brush a little liquid stripper on scraped brick area and then clean up with water and hit it with laquer thinner and then prime with a good oil based primer after area is dry. You would be better off if you can go to Ace Hardware for these supplys. I spend a lot of money on supplys at home depot but their strippers , thinners, primer and paints are one of thier weak points. If you do buy some stripper from Ace get the Kutzit liquid . These products can be used in cooler weather also ( we even have ice on our windows in phoenix az this morning ) so make sure it,s warm enough if your using a water based paint for your finish coat. If you had a effervesent reaction happening from the mortor you would more than likley have a lot of areas coming loose which dosent sound like it is from your description. You,ll spend about $50.00 and hope this helps.Paint is peeling off external brickwork in one area only?
Scrub the bricks with petrol or a suitable solvent then apply an undercoat,to see if that takes. It seems you have something on the bricks which stops it adhering.
what's on the backside of the wall? Anything that is causing moisture?
