once rust and corrosion has got at the metal its curtains you cannot stop the process it will eat away at any good metal it can find the only solution is to cut out the affected panel and have a new piece inserted then welded and sprayed hppe this helpsHow do i fix a corrosion problem in a volvo penta I/O. the paint is peeling in places due to corrosion?
I presume that the corrosion on the out drive is on the outer case. What you will need to do is to clean the out-drive to clean metal and coat with a primer suitable for the metal type used, if this is an aluminium type then the primer must be for aluminium, give several coats of primer then coat with a good marine gloss, again several thin coats, and remember that the out drive will always be at risk of this type of damage because it is in the water where it will be hit by floating rubbish. the only thing to do to stop future corrosion is to check for paint damage every time you use the boat.
if you go to a good car shop like halfords they will get yuo on the right track allso haynes do a book that tell you how to reair things like this and more.

your paint code will be on the car and on the log book!
If there is actually rust showing, the best thing is to carefully grind or sandpaper it down till you reach good paint underneath then tape around the area and respray it. Use several thin layers rather than one thick one. Most car parts places ie like halfords can mix the correct paint for about 拢10. You might find the paint code somewhere in the car or in the manual.

To prevent further corrision wash and thoroughly dry the car then use a protective wax, you should do this regularly to protect it. Also, it is a good idea to treat the underside and under the wheel arches etc as these places are more likely to rust than the panels etc.
Clean off all rust with WD 40 , then dry well .

Paint with primer , then touch up with a sealer paint .
Use a rust inhibitor. As anyone may know rust spreads if not treated quicly and properly.
