What is the best way to paint a house and avoid the paint from peeling or chipping?

in less than 3 years. My house is wood and I live in Florida, if that makes any difference. What is the best way to paint a house and avoid the paint from peeling or chipping?
How well your paint job lasts is entirely dependent on how well the surface was prepared.

When I paint a house, I start by spraying a dilute solution of bleach and water to kill all mold. Then I rinse it down with a power washer, with the nozzle set for a fairly wide spray rather than a needle point. After that, it's a quick pass with sandpaper, 80 grit or so, to remove any loose paint. Then a coating of primer over any exposed wood, along with caulking any cracks or openings in the walls.

Finally, two coats of paint, applied on a dry day. Humidity getting between the paint and the house can ruin all of the work. When I painted a house along the Gulf Coast, we always had a bucket of isopropyl alcohol to wash a wall section with immediately prior to painting. The alcohol evaporates rapidly, and takes any moisture with it. As soon as the section dries, slap the paint down!

Good luck.

Regardless of how well you paint the house, it will need repainting between 7 and 10 years. What is the best way to paint a house and avoid the paint from peeling or chipping?
temp you apply the paint in should be 55 or more, but not over 95 degrees.

low humidity is always better,

over a clean surface

and use a good primer paint. the primer is the key to it attaching to the surface your working with. most etch into and seal out mold and water.
Make sure it is dry, sanded (if needed) and as mentioned (low humidity) which corresponds to the amount of moisture in the air.

Use good paint, NOT cheap ACE brands.
